hello. I have noticed this fix when search on google. Thanks. I have been following it for a while now. However the problem is we do have sound but the sound is very low compare to when using OS X. Could you try fixing the problem with this realtek driver? I read on google and it says because apple use 3 speakers, unlike using 2 like other manufacturer, to produce third mid range sound. The driver does not enable this 3rd speaker, but i dont know how to customize it :(.

I have a Macbook Pro 2009 and this solution does not work for me. Tried the cirrius logistic driver as well. I get sound with that driver but its very low. With the realtek troubleshoot solution I get no sound what so ever.

(Minor point of clarification: the folder you're looking for is on the Leopard Install DVD. I spent a while trying to figure out where this driver install file was on my HFS+ partition before I figured out it was on the DVD.)

just adding my name to the list of thank you's. I have a late-2007 MacBook Pro and I just installed Windows 7 Beta 1 (32-bit) and I was having the same problem. supposedly sound was coming out but I couldn't hear anything and the red-light was coming out from earphone jack. your solution worked

I had sound problems on my (mid-2008) MacBook, too, and read about updating the RealTek drivers, but nowhere could I find such a clear explanation of how to do that!

I'm also impressed with Windows 7, although it's hard un-learning some of the quirks of the Apple keyboard. Even as a very satisfied Mac user, I'm very happy to see Microsoft get its act together with Win7.
